Meeting About Republic Windows Set For Later Today

From Door and Window Manufacturer Magazine online:

A meeting between union leaders, bankers and the owners of Republic Windows & Doors ended late on Monday without a resolution, according to union representatives. But union members say they are cautiously optimistic for a second meeting that is set for 1 p.m. on Tuesday.

From the Chicago Sun Times:

But by Monday night — after a three-hour meeting of union leaders, the company’s owners and bank management aimed at solving disputes over severance and vacation pay — the rhetoric was noticeably toned down.

“There was a tone of reconciliation, a tone of wanting to find an end to this situation,” said U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.), who attended the meeting.

Talks are to resume at 1 p.m. today — the fifth day of the protest.
